23rd - 29th May is Exercise Right Week here in Australia , a great initiative of ESSA, the professional association for Exercise Physiologists.
In my clinic I work with some fabulous exercise physiologists who are passionate about assisting our patients with their rehabiliatation progams to get them back to a healthy and active lifestyle.
I am also very lucky that several of them have an interest in women's health and work closely with me, keen to be working in a pelvic floor safe way with our mutual patients as well as taking my rehab programs to the next level which is their area of expertise.
What is your current position/s?
Private practice ,small business owner/physiotherapist working mainly with women’s pelvic health.
Physiotherapist working at a private practice obstetric centre once/week, also teaching prenatal pilates
What led you into women's health physio?
Teaching pregnancy and post-natal pilates years ago highlighted the lack of evidence and information regarding women’s health issues.
It never ceases to amaze me when my male patients look a bit surprised when they hear they have a pelvic floor too …most men seem to think that the pelvic floor and pelvic exercises come under the “secret women’s business” banner .
We are excited to now have this excellent DVD for men available.
Created by renowned Australian physiotherapist Pauline Chiarelli for the Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia (PCFA) 50c from every sale will be donated to the PCFA to help them continue the wonderful work they do here in Australia.
I use this resource myself in my clinic as an adjunct to teaching men how to find and activate their pelvic floor and it is always well received.
