The Astra™ Replacement Uterus with Cervix is a silicone consumable component for the Astra™ IUD Skills Training Model. It is intended to be replaced periodically as wear occurs, helping maintain the desired level of tactile realism during IUD simulation.

Wear and replacement

As with any soft-tissue simulation model, the uterine component will experience normal wear with repeated use. Over time, its feel and resistance may change, particularly with repeated tenaculum use.

The rate of wear varies depending on IUD type and size, tenaculum placement and technique, and frequency and manner of use. A change in tactile feel is an expected characteristic of the model and does not necessarily indicate a defect. Replace the uterine component when the desired level of tactile realism is no longer achieved.
