What is the NeuroTrac Simplex?

The NeuroTrac Simplex is a hand-held EMG biofeedback device that shows electrical activity of muscles and can assist with both muscle strengthening AND relaxation training. 
EMG stands for Electromyography which is a technique for measuring muscle activity.

The Simplex measures the muscle activity of muscles, including the pelvic floor muscles. It can be set to provide timed workouts, with variable work and rest times, and variable repetitions.

Used with the supplied 50 x 50mm adhesive electrodes, other appropriate sized adhesive electrodes or with any of our internal electrodes you can practise your exercises at home and monitor your improvement.

Health professionals also use EMG in the clinic to diagnose and treat a number of pelvic health conditions.

How does the NeuroTrac Simplex work?

Muscles emit a tiny electrical current when they contract (measured in microvolts uV). This activity is picked up through the electrodes and the information is displayed on the Simplex screen - giving you 'biofeedback'. As you contract your pelvic floor muscles you should see the LEDS on the screen light up. As you relax your muscles the LEDs will switch off.

It can also be used with the auditory feedback function.

EMG can be used to show you how well you are contracting your pelvic floor muscles as well as how well you are relaxing them which will help with strengthening weak muscles as well as down-training overactive, or too tight, pelvic floor muscles which can be causing pelvic pain and urinary or bowel dysfunction.

Accurate and sensitive, it measures muscle activity as low as 0.2 uV and as high as  2000uV allowing it to detect activity in even very weak muscles , as well as small changes in very tight muscles.

The Simplex will help you to understand your pelvic floor muscles and see how they are improving  over time and help motivate you to continue to do your exercises. If you are using the device under the guidance of a physiotherapist it will allow them to monitor your improvement in between your appointments.

The display screen signals the work and rest intervals. Visual feedback on the level of muscle activity is provided both on the display screen and on the continuous light display. Audio feedback is also available.

At the end of a workout, the device displays the average muscle readings for the session so  it is very easy to see your progress over time.

How to use your NeuroTrac Simplex EMG

Using the included stand, the Simplex sits upright on a flat surface allowing you to do your exercises and at the same time view the Biofeedback by either:

• the bright LED lights on the front of the unit.
• watching the screen for recorded uV
• listening to the auditory bleeps
• combination of the above.
• at the end of the session the LCD screen will automatically display the average muscle readings for the session.
• if the unit is locked all the sessions will be added together to form the overall average reading for the given period, giving the number of trials performed and the average muscle activity.

Concealed button enables treating health professional to lock the programme settings and record:

• the total trials 
• average work and rest microvolt levels 
• average onset and release times 
• valid onset and releases
