Some feedback from the face to face course

I had the privilege of attending Fiona Roger’s course on E-stimulation for Pelvic Health today. I can’t speak highly enough about the course. With a full review of the anatomy and physiology needed to allow clinicians to develop good clinical reasoning, and a thorough review of the research both of what we know and also the problems with some of the methodology at present, this course really was of such a high standard. Fiona also gave some amazing analogies to help explain depolarisation vs repolarisation, and the concepts of spatial vs temporal recruitment of muscle fibres that I know will stick in my mind forever - the skill of a natural teacher. I had so many take home points to add to the depth of my understanding. I can’t recommend it enough if you want to advance your knowledge on this area of pelvic health treatment.

As a Physiotherapist with more than 25 years clinical experience in musculoskeletal  health, I thought my days of utilising electrotherapy applications were done & dusted. I had been through the rise and fall of various trends as new options became available over the years and ultimately, preferred to rely on my hands to the do the work . However, with a more recent focus in Urology and Men’s Health I was curious, in particular, to learn about Posterior Tibial Nerve Stimulation for a range of continence disorders. This drew me to search far and wide for a practical course to upskill myself and I was delighted to learn that Fiona Rogers was intending to offer just that - and in my home- town!

So, just a few months ago I attended Fiona’s full day workshop and it was excellent! Fiona covered a plethora of topics across pelvic health that gave me a host of treatment options, especially tailored for immediate  translation to clinical practice and  patient home programs. Since this time, every single one of my patients with overactive bladder and urgency/frequency issues has greatly benefitted from the electrotherapy programs Fiona introduced. In particular, I greatly appreciated Fiona’s wealth of clinical experience and ‘practice- based evidence’ to match & build on the scientific research of others. Her broad understanding, effective delivery and relaxed communication/ language style further enhanced the quality of the course. No question was too hard to answer. So, if like me, if you haven’t had the opportunity to update in this very practical area of our profession, give yourself the gift of a day with Fiona Rogers.

I was fortunate enough to complete this course face to face in Orange NSW earlier this year and it was awesome. I learnt so much and came away with a far better understanding of electrical stimulation than I ever have had. I have been able to implement the new knowledge and skills I gained from this course within my clinical practice and I am getting far better outcomes with my patients. So if you are looking for quality PD to do at the moment, I highly recommend "Electrical Stimulation for Pelvic Health"

Some feedback from the online version of the course

  • The online course was fantastic! Keep up the great work you are doing! Whitney, Physiotherapist
  • I have just finished your online course and it's been great. Electrotherapy has always been a confusing subject to me (even as a student 30+ years ago!) and I tend to generally 'play' it safe and stick to the same parameters. This always bothered me because I don't like protocols - everybody is different! I now feel more confident about using it and am very keen to go and play around with the parameters to find what works best for certain patients and certain conditions.  A big thank you Fiona!!  Linda, Physiotherapist

  • Hi Fiona Just finished the course and wanted to say a big THANK YOU! You have certainly answered my questions and given me the confidence to apply NMES and TENS with a custom modes.Thank you for putting this course together, I can see the hard work you've put into it and I feel blessed to be able to be educated by you. Trish, Physiotherapist

  • Hi Fiona, Just finished your course.  Was great being able to do it as I was able, the online format was great. Thank you for all the work you put into getting it to this stage.Feel I now have a much better understanding of how to apply NMES & TENS & understand the parameters better;will be able to apply more custom programmes to suit individual patients with more confidence. Lynnette, Physiotherapist

  • Thanks Fiona. A great course! You did an excellent job of making this topic easily understandable, interesting and accessible. I am certainly going to be trying different forms of e-stim more often now! Jenny, Physiotherapist
  • Thanks so much Fiona. Excellent course, easy to understand and lots of ways to practically apply what we have learnt. I really commend you also on your ability to pivot during COVID-19 in getting this course up and running online for us so quickly and so well done. Kathryn, Physiotherapist
  • Thanks Fiona- I've found the course really useful, well researched and great practical advice. I'm looking forward to using ES much more effectively from now on. Wendy, Physiotherapist
  • Thanks so much Fiona - have just finished your course online! I enjoyed doing it online very much - I found it to be a fabulous recap and update on things we learned a LONG time ago. It will certainly help me finesse some of the electro interventions I have been implementing already. You presented it beautifully, very logical and easy to comprehend. Kirsten, Physiotherapist
