The Vielle Pelvic Floor Toning System is an quality vaginal weights set, consisting of three vaginal cones of varying weight and size, designed to be used progressively. Cones are differently coloured for ease of use and range from the large cone at the lightest weight of 20g, through the middle at 30g, to the smallest cone at the heaviest weight of 50g.
Clear manufacturer's instructionsdescribe how to begin with the lightest cone, which also has the widest diameter, and is therefore the easiest to hold; by extending the time that a cone is held, and then progressing through the weights, eventually a woman will be able to hold the narrowest and heaviest cone for an extended period and will have achieved a substantial improvement in pelvic floor muscle strength.
The Vielle System combines the features and benefits of traditional vaginal cones, witha visible projecting probe, similar to the principle behind the Pelvic Floor Educator. It therefore represents a value buy, especially for women who are starting out on a pelvic floor strengthening program.
Traditionally, the benefit of vaginal cones is that their presence alone stimulates the pelvic floor muscle, and the muscle contracts automatically to hold the cone in place. Cones are therefore a popular option for women who either can't, or don't want to, commit themselves to a "squeeze and lift" exercise program.
However some women, particularly those who are not confident about exploring their own anatomy, find traditional cones difficult to position accurately. The Vielle System has developed a solution to this problem, by incorporating a simple "bulge" on the tail of each cone, marking the spot where the tail should touch the outer part of the vulva when the cone is correctly positioned, thus helping women who are uncertain about placement of a cone.
The other valuable benefit of the Vielle System is the design of the tail. Other vaginal cones have a tampon-like strings, whereas the Vielle System has a firm moulded tail. Each tail has a small clip that can be fixed at the point that enables the tail to point forward so that it is visible to the wearer when it is in place.
By watching the tail, whilst practicing "squeeze and lift" pelvic floor contractions, a woman can check her exercise technique and ensure that she is contracting correctly. A correct contraction will move the tail of the cone backwards towards the bottom (or downwards if the wearer is lying down), whereas an incorrect one will move it forwards.
The Vielle System can therefore be used both as a
- traditional set of vaginal weights that stimulate unassisted pelvic floor contraction
- exercise aid for women who want to improve their progress by undertaking additional exercises.
Like other vaginal cones, the Vielle System is most suitable for women with established pelvic muscle weakness who want to re-establish sufficient strength to overcome stress incontinence.Women who already have reasonable pelvic floor muscle strength and want to extend it further may need a feedback device, rather than vaginal weights.
Insertion of the Vielle weights is sometimes made easier by the use of a very small amount of water-based lubricant - but be careful, as too much lubricant would make the weights difficult to hold. We stock Sylk Natural Personal Lubricantas the best product for this purpose.
Vielle cones are easily cleaned; the manufacturers recommend a solution designed for babies' bottles. The System is included on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods and is GST.
The recommended retail price of the Vielle Pelvic Floor Toning System is $49.50. Our price is just $44.95.
