  • 28mm diameter bulb & 65mm insertable length
  • 35mm diameter bulb & 60mm insertable length
  • Connecting tube: approx 620mm
Manufacturer's recommendations for use:
  • Twice per day to build strength and at least twice per week to maintain it
  • Each exercise session should last 2-3 mins when starting and no more than 5 mins when your strength improves.
  • Max of 30 reps per session (see note below)

The Pelvexiser is a perineometer that allows you to exercise your pelvic floor muscles against adjustable and flexible resistance levels.

Variable resistance is created through an air pump mechanism, similar to that employed on a blood pressure reading device. With its easy-to-read dial covering a wide pressure range, the Pelvexiser offers the user feedback to provide reassurance on progress.

Combined with the Pelvexiser's three sensors of varying size, each capable of inflation to increasing hardness, a very wide range of resistance levels can be created. The Pelvexiser is therefore particularly suitable for women who already have some pelvic floor muscle strength but want to push themselves much further.

Three sensors, constructed from flexible, solid silicone, an expensive, skin-friendly material, are supplied with the Pelvexiser. Some remnant moulding material may appear on the inside of some sensors, and this should be considered normal.

German midwives report that they have found the three sensor sizes particularly useful, since the medium sensor fits most women before pregnancy and the large sensor is better suited to postpartum exercising at least until the vulva naturally contracts again.

Sensors range from 60-65mm insertable length. Whilst this is a suitable length for the anatomy of the majority of women, a minority of women may find the shaft of the sensor a little short and may find that they need to hold the base of the sensor lightly in place with their fingers in place in order to maintain muscle contact.

The Pelvexiser is a bestseller in many European countries. It was developed by an Austrian female physician, Dr. Ilse Michl, for women with incontinence and has a number of excellent features that make it an outstanding value buy:

  • the sensor can be adjusted via a manual pump to fit the individual resistance needs of each woman.
  • the sensor is designed to isolate the correct muscles within the pelvic floor and is made of soft solid silicone
  • the one button pressure release function allows you to adjust the pressure in the sensor with one hand.
  • adjustable resistance levels - the manual pump allows progressive muscle build-up by increasing the resistance in the sensor.
  • easy to clean and sterilize: the silicone part should be cleaned regularly - it detaches from the sensor and can easily be sterilized (even in a dishwasher)

The Pelvexiser provides clear feedback as you exercise, giving you:

  • certainty that you are contracting correctly
  • reassurance that you can hold contractions for long enough
  • confirmation that you are improving your pelvic floor fitness, and
  • motivation to keep going.

The Pelvexiser is a sturdy well-made product, constructed to clinical-quality standards, and is accompanied by clear instructions on use.

Insertion of the sensor is sometimes made easier by the use of a very small amount of water-based lubricant - but be careful not to use too much. We stock Sylk Natural Personal Lubricant as the best product for this purpose. If you do choose to use a lubricant, you must ensure that you wash the sensor immediately after use to remove all traces of lubricant, then dry the sensor before storage.

The Pelvexiser is included on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (as well as having FDA approval in the US and TUEV approval in the European Community), and, as a designated medical device for the treatment of incontinence, is GST free.

Read our information sheet about using a perineometer like the Pelvexiser (PDF).

Purchasers of the Pelvexiser should note that the manufacturer's recommendations are for 30 repetitions in one sequence. You may prefer to break these contractions into three separate sets as described in the Australian guidelines for pelvic floor exercises, which are based on current expert knowledge of how muscles are best strengthened.

"I have only done three sessions with the Pelvexiser but have already noticed an improvement. And, it's odd as I have done kegels for years but this has already created a noticeable difference...I am actually talking about orgasms...So, am thinking of buying them for my female friends!" Pelvexiser purchaser, Aug 07

"Have noticed ongoing improvement in muscle tone and Kegel exercises are easier to do. Less incidents of urge leakage. User friendly product." Pelvexiser purchaser Aug 09
